The right to rectification is described under Article 16 of the GDPR, and grants individuals (data subject) a right to demand the rectification of inaccurate personal data from the organization (data controller) without undue delay. The data subject can also ask for incomplete personal data to be completed.
However, it is not so simple when the organization receives a request for rectification of data. There are a number of steps that need to be taken, including reviewing the data to verify if the data is correct It is recommended to stop the processing of “incorrect data” until you verify it.
Fulfillment of the right to rectification can cause a lot of challenges when it comes to operationalization since changing data can have wider consequences on multiple data platforms in an organization.
